I am 15, I want to be a Marine, and I always have. I want to kill people, Never an American. But I DAMN sure dont want to fight a war that I dont know WHY we are fighting. I would like to use the "Who gives a shit" mentallity, but that just seems STUPID. Our nation wasnt founded on "Who gives a shit" Can anyone tell me, why the hell we are fighting, or THEY are? PS...I have gotten the response before that I SHOULD know why and that Im an idiot for not knowing, but just as everything else now days....nothing is what it seems.

Far as why we're in Iraq, you'd have to take that up with our previous president. Turns out he was planning on invading Iraq even before 9/11 happened. It's probably too late, but I'm not going to get into the details.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, is where bin Ladin was headquartered out of when 9/11 went down. He's supposedly either dead or in Pakistan.

I'll just say this, don't discount the other branches of the military. I was in the Navy, briefly. Other than that, good luck with the Marines.

All wars do one thing in particular.

They take money out of the hands of taxpayers and pay it into private hands. Sometimes there are other objectives, but the reality of why a war is fought usually rests with who benefits most and at whose expense.

What bothers me is "collateral damage" of civilians. We will never know if one of the tens of thousands of civilians that got killed would have gone on to develop the cure for cancer or invented a source of clean energy or some other achievement.

But I suppose the stupid assume that everyone else is as stupid as they are and are thus expendable.
